When bad things happen.
It's hard to see the grace and glory of God in a devastating tsunami, but it's there. We won't try and hide the fact that we don't get it all, but we might try and help you see by asking you to take a look at several thought papers:
1) We have a link to an article (here) by Rich Deems, Southeast Asia Earthquake and Tsunami: Where was God?
2) We have a link (here) to a newspaper column written by yours truly called Big Waves in a Perfect World, and
3) We have our powerpoint presentation God is Good, God is Great, so why do bad things still happen? Go here.

Powerful points.
Finally, after spending years stuck in my tiny mind, we've finished our latest powerpoint presentation called fish guts and extra dimensions. It's an introduction to the whole concept of extra dimensions and how our God, the God of the Bible, and only the God of the Bible, works in and through and around the four dimensions we live in here. Here, also, you will be introduced to Mr Flat and other Flatlanders just to get a glimpse of what outside the world is going on here! (?) Don't be so two-dimensional! Take God of of the box and go here.
New! Spanish version of Genesis One!
Our buddy Alejandro Field down Argentina way (and king of Reasons To Believe down there) kindly translated our Genesis powerpoint into California's first language, spanish, which is an amazingly bueno or buena or bono or.. whatever! thing to do. If you need it, go to the presentations page.
Coming next month CSI:Earth
This one is a swordandspiritty attempt to present design of the planet as if we were cosmic investigators. We look at the facts, interview experts, and come to the conclusion that some Intelligent Designer is our prime suspect behind it all. But who is it exactly? Hmmm... |

No, there is no connection...
We think this site, Digibless.com, might win an award for Most Amazingly Stupid Site ever. Go here to get there and then get any document you want blessed, really. And pray it is just some silly prank from bored kids at Bible College.
On the brighter side, the much brighter side, as in day compared to night, Luke compared to Darth, there is a fairly good show on...(gulp)... TBN. No, we don't watch TBN (for reasons like this) but there is one show on Saturday nights called Travel The Road, about some kids (well, "kids" compared to our geriatric status) who travel the world proclaiming the Good News. And not just to poor Hawaiians or the savages in Kennebunkport, but to real third world countries with real humans who need Jesus, but have never heard. If we only had more kids like this...

Blog Heaven.
FYI: If you are a blogger or just like reading other people's opinions on everything you can possibly imagine for whatever reason, like "I have absolutely nothing better in my life to do," you may be interested in this.
Some of these Christian blog people, a subculture unto themselves, are planning a big blog shindig, or in the common parlance of our bloggie friends, a blogcon, specifically here a "Godblogcon." It is their attempt to unite us all in some way, seeing as blogs are a great way to further spread our smarty pants ideas around the globe. (info here)
And while you're at it:
Check out the blog sites of swordandspirit, and the much more mature Charlie LeHardy's deep insights at anotherthink, and Kathy Shaidle's "take off your hypocritical glasses so I can poke you in the eyes" relapsed catholic blog site. |

(Warning: Repeat announcement from last month)
New unorthodox shirts for the ladies.
How stupid are we? (Don't answer that!) We kinda didn't know kinda that there are girls' shirts, too, and that we could make them. D'oh!
So, we made a limited number of girlie shirts in black or dark green, SMLXL, to fulfill your desire to spread the lovingly rebellious, counter-christian-culture, I am a Christian with a brain and a heart! swordandspirit message all over this dark world of ours.
They are here finally. If you want one go here and find out about how to get one! |

"Speaking" of which...
Mark (that would be yours truly) gets a great opportunity to speak to a load of kids about God and science. On the weekend of Feb 11, I get to travel to Willowcreek Community Church near Chicago and cover the place with Christian scientific propaganda like lake-effect snow off Lake Michigan. I am speaking on design (CSI:Earth) and extra dimensions (fish guts and extra dimensions). If you go to Willowcreek or happen to be at the conference, please come up to me and give me a swift kick... err... I mean, a pat on the back. I'll be the one with the glazed look in his eyes, and the "I love SpongeBob, but not in that way" shirt. By the way if you are interested, Reasons To Believe is doing a load of "regional conferences" at local churches. If interested contact Ken here. |

Last minute quick thoughts...
-
We have our every-once-in-a-while bloggy comments on the United Church of Christ and their commercials inviting everyone to church, the tsunamis and out own problems, and why we want to be here for the tribulation.
- Pray the place we go to this year as our outreach is the right time and place for what He wants for us.
- Pray the stupid NHL snaps out of it and brings God's sport back for us fans.

Thanks!
Again, we need you in order to exist. If even a tenth of you got involved with forums or spreading the news via word of mouth or shirts or linking our site, we could change things around us in ways we never dreamed of. And through all this (naive ideology alert!) Christians could be strengthened and challenged, nonChristians can see Christians as they should be, and above all our loving God will be glorified and pleased with His children. Can you help?
Have the best 2005!
