Well, actually for no other reason than they are Christians. And when they are arrested they are beaten, tortured, "rehabilitated," and often executed. Prisoner Alert not only keeps us abreast of their situations, but provides us an easy way to write to our persecuted brothers and sisters to encourage them. Amnesty International (AI) is a worldwide movement of people who campaign for internationally recognized human rights. Fair warning: They are not a "Christian" organization per se. But one thing I did with Amnesty before was to write letters to governments of different countries for individuals who had been deprived of basic human rights. The beauty of that is that we can help that individual get those basic rights which we in America take for granted, and we can also witness to the poor government lackey who ends up reading the spiritually tinged letter. Win-win situation. And it's good to know how utterly crappy life is for others in other countries, so we can be motivated to help.
